Kia Australia has added a new Cerato Si to the local range which is priced from $22,490 drive away.
Leaked from a dealer bulletin, the new Cerato variant sits above the base model S and offers a more comprehensive suite of active safety tech to the car. Like the Sport Plus, but unlike the four-star S and Sport grades, the Si earns a five-star safety rating.
Over the base model Cerato S ($21,490 drive away), the Si adds the more comprehensive AEB system with pedestrian and cyclist detection from upper spec Cerato models. It also adds radar cruise control.
Having higher-spec AEB and adaptive cruise control means that the Cerato Si is eligible for a five-star safety rating - unlike the four-star S and Sport.
While it is yet to be confirmed, it would appear that this a praise-worthy strategy from Kia to expand five-star safety further across the Cerato range just a couple of months after earning a split four/five-star safety rating.
Does the lack of a five-star safety rating make the Cerato S and Sport less appealing to you? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below.
