Jaguar's April 1 warranty announcement is no joke

All Jaguars whether bought for private or commercial use will be covered by the new five-year warranty.

Jaguar Australia has announced it will offer a five-year/unlimited kilometre warranty on all its new cars from April 1 this year.

The five-year coverage is a step up from the three-year/unlimited warranty previously offered by Jaguar, matching the offering from prestige rival Mercedes-Benz and bringing it in line with the assurance periods of mainstream manufacturers such as Toyota, Mazda, Hyundai, Ford and Volkswagen.

All models, including the F-Type, E-Pace, F-Pace and XE, in Jaguar’s range will be covered by the new warranty. Currently Jaguar’s I-Pace electric SUV has a five-year/200,000km warranty and from April 1 this will change to unlimited kilometres.

Unlike Mercedes-Benz, Jaguar’s five-year/unlimited kilometre warranty will be offered for commercial use, too.

In the past Jaguar has offered five-year warranties as short-lived buyer incentives, but managing director Mark Cameron said the longer coverage is now staying in place.

“The warranty revision is an important change, one we see as a key progression for the Jaguar brand in Australia and one that is permanent,” he said.

“We have worked extremely hard at developing the extended warranty for the Australian market and I believe the increased length of the warranty period, plus unlimited kilometres will deliver an even more enjoyable experience for Jaguar buyers.

“We are proud to be able to offer our Australian customers such an extensive warranty.”

Jaguar’s sister company Land Rover will also move from a three-year/unlimited kilometre warranty to the longer coverage at the same time.
