Jaguar XE detailed and debut confirmed

Jaguar's all-new mid-size luxury sedan will debut in September with F-Type derived suspension design.

Jaguar has confirmed that the new XE mid-size sedan will be revealed in production form on September 8, at a gala event to be held in London.

Built around a lightweight aluminium-intensive architecture, the Jaguar XE will also adopt a new range of lightweight turbocharged petrol and diesel 'Ingenium' engines.

As part of a drip-feed of information leading up to the September debut, the British brand has also confirmed the suspension layout of the new C-Class and 3 Series rival.

The new rear-wheel drive Jaguar will use a new ‘integral link’ independent rear suspension design, which Jaguar claims gives sharp responses without compromising ride comfort.

"The Integral Link rear suspension provides a combination of supple ride and crisp handling that is unmatched in this segment. We are on target to deliver a vehicle that dynamically outperforms our rivals,” Jaguar Chief Engineer Mike Cross said.

The double wishbone front suspension design is derived from of the F-Type sports car, and Jaguar claims this will give the XE similar dynamic capability to the flagship sports car.

Electric power steering assistance will allow for variable steering weight settings and be accompanied by active safety systems such as radar guided cruise control with steering assistance.

The new XE luxury sedan will also feature a new Land Rover-derived ‘All Surface Progress Control’ traction control system, which promises to help the XE move from rest in slippery conditions without the driver using the pedals.
