GM and Holden's iconic SS performance brand will live on in an electric future, with Chevy teasing a Blazer SS EV.
The bade that adorned the flanks for go-fast Commodores was lost to Australia with Holden's factory closures, but it has new lease on life in the USA, where it will be glued to performance EVs.
The brand is yet to reveal full details of the performance model - save a fast-moving teaser trailer - but it does act as a serious milestone for Chevrolet.

In fact, the Blazer will be the first Chevrolet EV to earn the hallowed SS badge, guaranteeing the performance stamp will live on.
That said, the Blazer is no Commodore. You can forget rear-drive sedans, the Chevrolet's first performance EV is in fact a mid-size SUV, and one that shares its platform with the Holden Acadia.
It's a case of history reversing for Chevrolet, with the brand having previously imported our V8-powered Holden Commodore SS for the American market.
The Holden Commodore SS holds a special place in Australia's history. In fact, the final car (though not the official Last Car) to roll off Holden's production line was a Commodore SS-V Redline sedan, fitted with a thumping 6.2-litre V8 churning out 304kW and 570Nm - enough to push this rear-drive monster to 100km/h in just 4.9 seconds.
