Hyundai has announced price cuts of up to $2900 across some of its i30 petrol sedan range as the brand tries to give the model a sales boost.
Customers will now be able to nab an entry-level i30 sedan, which is typically priced at $29,000 before on-road costs, for just $29,990 drive-away.
Previously, drive-away pricing would have cost customers in excess of $32,000.
The savings begin to taper moving up the range, dropping to an estimated saving of roughly $2000 for the i30 Elite sedan compared to previous drive-away pricing, to roughly $700 for the top-spec N-Line Premium.
The sale will not apply to the i30 N performance sedan, which maintains its before on-road pricing of $52,000. And it does not apply to the petrol-electric hybrid versions of the sedan.
Petrol variants in the i30 sedan range are powered by either a 2.0-litre or 1.6-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, the latter of which is a turbocharged unit offered on the N-Line and N-Line Premium variants as standard.
The base-model i30 sedan and i30 Elite are also offered with a hybrid powertrain, which adopts the 1.6-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, paired with a small electric motor.
Customers can opt for a hybrid powertrain for an additional $6000 on the base model i30 or for $6669 on the Elite.
Front-wheel drive is standard across the range, with power being sent through either a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox (with manual mode) on the N-Line and N-Line Premium variants, or a six-speed dual clutch on other petrol non-N grades.
As standard, the entry-level i30 carries an 8.0-inch multimedia touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto (rising to a 10.25-inch unit on the Elite variant and onwards), 16-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry, LED running lights, a wireless charging pad and a six-speaker audio system.
Hyundai says that roughly 1800 i30 sedans are on the ground in Australia, with the deal expected to last until November 30, or potentially later, depending on demand.
Sales of the Hyundai i30 have taken a hit this year, down some 41.5 per cent compared to this time last year, according to the latest October VFACTS sales data.
The model has lost ground to the popular Toyota Corolla and Kia Cerato, but has still clocked up 10,536 sales as of October.
