Aussies can now get their hands on one of the biggest rigs on the road — the 2025 GMC Yukon SUV.
The big American is imported into Australia and converted to right-hand drive by General Motors Speciality Vehicles (GMSV), which is the company behind the jumbo Chevrolet Silverado.
It is available in Denali specification only priced from $169,990 (before on-road costs), which is about $20,000 more than the most expensive Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series.
The Yukon has something that the LandCruiser can’t match, though.
Under the bonnet is a beefy 6.2-litre V8 petrol engine that makes 313kW and 624Nm. This is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission driving all four wheels.
There is some serious off-road hardware, too. It has high and low gearing, electronic slip differential and adaptive air suspension for superior on-road poise.
It can tow “in excess of 3500kg”, but GMC haven’t given a final figure.
It’s a monster-sized SUV measuring 5338mm long, 2058 wide, 1941mm tall and 3071mm between the front and rear wheels.
Its size leaves the LandCruiser in the shade, which is 300mm shorter, 70mm narrower and 220mm shorter between the front and rear axles. The coming new Nissan Y63 Patrol measuring 5205mm long and 2030 wide is no match for it.
The Yukon has seating for eight, something only the Hyundai Palisade can match in SUV form.
It has a cargo space of a cavernous 3480L when you fold the second and third rows seats down, which is 16 times the standard boot space of a Corolla hatchback.
The ride is pimped out with 42-inches of digital screens throughout, which includes a 16.8-inch central multimedia screen, 11-inch digital driver display and dual 12.6-inch screens for the second row passengers.
There is also a 15-inch head-up display, which projects vital information such as travelling speed and safety warnings onto the windscreen in front of the driver.
The Yukon rides on enormous 24-inch alloy wheels, has a panoramic sunroof, power retractable steps, LED lighting front and back and roof rails.
Australians can now order a big slice of American pie with first deliveries of the Yukon expected in the second quarter of 2025.
