2026 Tesla Model Y Performance revealed: Hi-po BYD Sealion 7 and XPeng G6 rival gets sporty looks and bigger touchscreen

Tesla has officially revealed its updated version of the Model Y Performance in Europe.

This follows around eight months after the current ‘Juniper’ update for the regular Model Y trims was revealed.

Tesla claims the new Model Y Performance can do the 0-100km/h sprint in 3.5 seconds, which is 0.2 seconds faster than the pre-update model.

Top speed is electronically limited to 250km/h. For context, all the other Model Y trims have a top speed of 201km/h.

Tesla claims there are new high-voltage battery cells in the Model Y Performance, allowing for more charging capacity and improving the range.

Claimed range for the new Model Y Performance is 580km, according to WLTP testing. This is 6km less than the current Model Y Long Range AWD.

Compared to regular Model Y trims, the Performance has revised front and rear bumper designs, a subtle rear spoiler, as well as standard 21-inch ‘Arachnid 2.0’ alloy wheels.

Under the skin there’s a new adaptive suspension system that’s claimed to keep the Model Y Performance “stable and responsive at different speeds”, as well as Stability Assist Mode which allows you to customise the traction control.

Inside there’s a larger 16.0-inch touchscreen multimedia system. The rest of the Model Y line-up (excluding the new Chinese-specific Model Y L) has a 15.4-inch unit.

Another highlight change is ‘Performance’ front seats that feature thigh extension, as well as heating and ventilation. There are also carbon fibre interior trims.

As noted above, the new Model Y Performance has only been detailed for Europe currently, meaning German production is likely being prioritised.

US or Chinese production hasn’t been confirmed yet. It’s worth noting that all Australian-specification Model Ys are produced in the latter of these countries.
