The Hyundai Santa Fe is set to gain better off-road credentials with the addition of two adventure-ready XRT accessory packs.

Hyundai Australia now offer an optional XRT accessory pack, following in the footsteps of the Santa Fe XRT variant on sale in the US. It hasn’t been officially announced by Hyundai, but a quick search on the Hyundai Australia Santa Fe web page already reveals details and prices.

The cheaper of the two options – the ‘XRT Accessory Pack’ – is priced at $6990, adding a 17-inch off-road wheel and tyre packaging, which includes Pirelli Scorpion all-terrain tyres.

The wheel packaging works in combination with an “off-road suspension kit”, which adds new front struts, springs and hubs that lift the vehicle by 30mm.

There’s also XRT-branded mud flaps and a Santa Fe-branded underbody bash plate.

The ‘XRT Peak Option Pack’ – priced at $9990 – includes the aforementioned features in addition to several others and are only available on all-wheel drive versions. They include two black powder coated side steps, a roof platform with an 80kg load capacity, a black powder coated bonnet protector and a set of four black window visors.

There is no suggestion at this stage whether the optional extras extend to the interior. In the US, the XRT variant gets XRT embossed leather seats as well as XRT badging on the car's exterior.

Power remains unchanged with the Santa Fe using a 1.6-litre four-cylinder petrol hybrid set-up producing 172kW and 367Nm, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.

In the US, all Hyundai Santa Fe variants – including the XRT – are mated to a 2.5-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that produces 203kW/421Nm.

A 2.5-litre turbo petrol option is expected in Australia towards the end of the year.

XRT packaging is also expected for the Hyundai Tucson and possibly the Hyundai Palisade as well, but there is no sign of this on the Hyundai Australia website for now.
