2017 Mitsubishi ASX | new car sales price

Mitsubishi has updated the ASX small SUV for 2017, which arrives with better media unit functionality, improved interior comfort and wearing the fresh, and a new family face shared by the bigger Outlander and Pajero Sport.

Prices have gone up ever so slightly with the entry into the range now starting at $25,000 (just $10 more) for the LS and topping out at $37,000 for the XLS diesel 4WD (up $510).

Dynamic Shield is the name Mitsubishi's given to the new design treatment of the ASX's nose, which retains the same headlights but sees the adoption of  a reshaped grille and bumper with gloss black and chrome finishes.

A shark fin antenna and front fog lights (which replace the DRLs) complete the exterior changes.

The functionality of the media unit has been improved with a better menu structure and graphics.

The cabin has also been revised, with better bolstering in the second row with the LS receiving a new seat fabric trim and stitching.

The XLS's heated seat controls have also been relocated to the instrument panel and the functionality of the media unit has been improved with a better menu structure and graphics.

The engine line-up stays the same with a 2.0-litre petrol four cylinder powering the two-wheel drives and a 2.2-litre four cylinder turbo-diesel under the bonnet of four-wheel drive variants.

Despite its age, the now six-year-old ASX is currently neck-and-neck with Mazda's CX-3 for the title of the best-selling small SUV under $40,000.

What do you think of the new ASX's face? Is the spruce up enough to tempt you away from a Mazda CX-3? Tell us what you think in the comments section below.
