Toyota Corolla 2008: Paint peeling

Asked by Yvette

My 2008 Toyota Corolla is experiencing severe paint peeling (original paint). It looks like it's peeling away from the primer. Could you please recommend a car paint specialist who would be able to provide a root cause to this issue, as I would like to determine whether it's a manufacturing defect or something else?

It’s the clear coat peeling away from the base colour coat and it’s quite common with the more environmentally friendly water-borne paints the industry has been using for a number of years now. Other than repainting affected panels there is nothing much you can do about it. You could talk to a local panel beater or spray painter for advice.
