Asked by Peter
My wife would like a newer SUV and she has her heart set on a 2014 Volkswagen Touareg. I am concerned about the lack of them on the road, and they look a little old. I made a suggestion to look at a BMW X5 as it may have better quality features and reliability. My favourite would be a Toyota Prado GXL or Altitude built to last and better fuel economy. We have a 2200 kg boat to tow on holidays occasionally as well. What would your suggestion be?

4 May 2018I’m reluctant to recommend the Touareg, or the X5 for that matter. They are good cars, but can be expensive when things go wrong, and they are more likely to go wrong than is a Prado. I would definitely go for the Prado.
