My 1999 Toyota Hiace van is noisy when driving, especially when slowing from 70 km/h to 50 km/h. My mechanic checked it and said it's a gearbox bearing problem, but said I could still drive it as normal. Do you think it should be fixed as soon as possible, or could I keep driving for a few more months?
If it's got a bearing problem in the gearbox then you should assume it will get worse and eventually fail. If it is a bearing and the bearing disintegrates while you're driving it do some major damage and could end up costing you more. You probably should do it as soon as you can.
