Mitsubishi Triton rear springs inverted

My Mitsubishi Triton was bought as a demonstrator with full new car warranty. I spoke at length with the sales person describing in detail the proposed use of the vehicle as a home handyman service vehicle and he assured me it was exactly the vehicle for that job. At approximately 4500 km I noticed uneven tyre wear on the front tyres. A tyre shop advised there was something wrong with the load distribution and since there hadn't been even half a tonne on the UTE he advised me to take it back to the dealer. I did so and was fobbed off with the excuse, "Tyres and wheel alignment are not covered by warranty". I returned to the tyre shop and had the wheel alignment checked and reset at my expense. Then, 500 km later I noticed the rear springs were inverted as if there was a heavy load on them. I weighed the UTE on a weighbridge and then unloaded all the tools from it and re-weighed it. The tools weighed 140 kg. The leaves of the springs are spread apart with 3 to 5 millimetre gaps between them and they are inverted. Any ideas?

We have heard of one similar problem on a fleet of Tritons run by an earthmoving contractor in Victoria. He ran the Tritons alongside similar vehicles from other makers, and it was only the Tritons that suffered from rear suspension sag. We were told that the answer in his case was to fit the optional heavy-duty suspension, even though he had been assured by the dealer that the standard vehicle was perfectly suited to the work he was doing. I would suggest that you go back to your dealer and have him check the vehicle's suspension. Alternatively you could consult a suspension specialist who should be able to diagnose your problem.
