    Hyundai i30 gear change

    Hyundai Hyundai Advice Hyundai I30 Hyundai I30 Advice Hyundai I30 2010
    I believe my 2010 Hyundai i30 petrol auto selects fourth gear at 50 km/h, which makes the engine labour. Hyundai says they can?t make the gearbox go into fourth at 60 km/h because this would impact on fuel economy and pollution, but suggest I select third gear manually. Wouldn't this also affect fuel use and pollution?

    Yes, it would, and I wouldn’t recommend doing it. While you might think the engine is labouring I doubt that it is. Cars today use higher gears than we might have once been used to, and they’re calibrated to run in the highest gear possible in the interests of saving fuel and reducing pollution, and it sounds to me that your Hyundai is doing just that. I wouldn’t be concerned about it.
