Do dealerships have to tell you when a new model is coming in?

I have recently purchased a 2018 Hyundai i30 SR Premium PD. During my time at the dealer, I asked them if I was purchasing the latest model and if there were no upcoming updates to the car I should know about. They advised me I was getting the latest 2018 model and there were no upcoming updates. Happy with the deal, I ordered the car on March 23, 2018. They said that they had to order the car in, as there was none of the 2018 model in stock. I picked my car up on April 9, 2018. It has recently come to my attention that an updated i30 (PD2) series was released on April 12th.

I feel the dealer was untruthful with me during my dealings and they just wanted to make a sale, as the car was updated less than a month after I purchased mine.

Should the dealer be aware of an incoming update to their line-up, especially when it is less than a month away? Does the dealer have an obligation to inform buyers of an impending update before they purchase their vehicle?

Needless to say, I am disappointed that three days later after picking up my car, an updated model is released.

The dealer would have been aware of the upcoming updated model, but he would probably have been under an embargo that would prevent him from talking about it.

However, he should have told you, at least off the record, that it was coming, particularly because you asked about it.
