Colorado upper shock absorber squeak

A squeak developed in the front suspension of my new Holden Colorado soon after I took delivery of it in early October. I asked them to fix it at the 3000 km service and they did manage to quieten it for a short time, but it returned soon after and gradually worsened. I took it in again late in November and was informed that the top shocker retainer plate and the shocker were damaged. No big deal I thought, but the service manager informed me that there were none of these components in Australia, and it would be late December before they even arrived in the country. Meanwhile my 4wd sits in their workshop for at least a month. They did give me a car to drive, but I need a vehicle with a tow bar, and they informed me that they have no vehicle with a towbar, inconveniencing me greatly. Later I spoke to a guy in the know about the Colorado and he said it was widespread, and that Holden had 30 new shockers imported, and they were all used up the same day. Have you heard anything about this problem before?

You're not alone, we have had queries about this same problem from other Colorado owners and contacted Holden. Holden spokesman John Taylor confirmed to us that there was a problem, saying that "some premature wear on the upper shock absorber bushes has been seen on some vehicles under certain conditions." Taylor went on to tell us that Holden has developed new parts and that they would be arriving in the coming weeks and made available to customers experiencing this issue on their vehicles.
