The local F-150 dual cab pickup range has two model grades, comprising entry-level XLT and premium Lariat. Both are available in a choice of short wheelbase (3694mm) and long wheelbase (3994mm) configurations.
Our test vehicle is the Lariat LWB, which like all local F-150 models is available only with a 3.5-litre EcoBoost twin-turbo V6 and 10-speed automatic transmission, for a list price of $140,945 plus on-road costs. Ours is also finished in Carbonised Grey, one of five optional ‘prestige paint’ colours available at extra cost.
Buyers expect their $140K Lariat burger with the lot and it delivers, starting with 20-inch chrome-finish alloy wheels and all-terrain 275/60R20 tyres with full-size alloy spare, plus lots of other chrome detailing.
There’s also a cabin-length power sunroof, LED headlights/fog lights/ tail-lights, a power tailgate with integral fold-out step, a spray-in bedliner, a power sliding-rear window and underbody skid plates. Also standard is a 4.5-tonne-rated tow bar, a tow-hitch and a 70mm ball with an integrated trailer brake controller.
The luxurious interior features two-tone grey leather-accented seating, which for the driver and front passenger include 12-way power-adjustable bucket seats with lumbar support, heating and cooling (the outer rear seats are also heated), plus memory settings for the driver’s seat/leather-wrapped steering wheel and foot-pedal positioning.
There’s also numerous cameras including a 360-degree view, rear privacy glass, dual-zone climate control, wireless phone charging and numerous USB-A/USB-C ports and 12-volt outlets. A big 12-inch digital instrument display for the driver is matched by a similar-sized touchscreen for the multimedia system, which includes Ford’s SYNC 4 and Apple/Android connectivity plus concert-like sound quality from a premium 18-speaker Bang & Olufsen system.
