Contributing Journalist

Raised by dingoes and, later, nuns, Marcus (aka ‘Crafty’) had his first taste of adventure as a cheeky toddler on family 4WD trips to secret fishing spots near Bundaberg, Queensland. He has since worked as a journalist for more than 20 years in Australia, London and Cape Town and has been an automotive journalist for 18 years.

This bloke has driven and camped throughout much of Australia – for work and play – and has written yarns for pretty much every mag you can think of.

The former editor of 4X4 Australia magazine, Marcus is one of the country’s most respected vehicle reviewers and off-road adventure travel writers.

Understatement warning: There has been a ton of hype about the new Ford Ranger line-up – especially with the introduction of a turbo-diesel V6 engine option. The Jeep Grand Cherokee has had its share of fans who use theirs as a tow vehicle, but with most of the new-generation line-up effectively losing 700kg in maximum towing capacity from the previous-gen versions will this still be the case? And the story doesn’t get any better if you spend more money...Read more
The universal appeal of road-tripping with a vehicle that offers an all-in-one solution to car camping has been growing enormously in recent years. “What’s car camping?”, I hear you ask. Well, I’m talking about staying overnight or longer in a vehicle that affords you the ability to sleep in, eat...Read more
Isuzu’s line-up of D-Max utes is already rather extensive but the car maker has further bolstered the range with some new variants, one of which is the LS-U+.
