Emily discovered her interest in cars early through her mum’s passion, and quickly found herself researching the cool cars her mum’s S15 Nissan 200SX passed on the highway.

Emily's readiness to engage and have a chat wound up opening her first door in the media, spending time as a freelance events and news photographer for her local paper while undertaking a Creative Writing degree at the University of Wollongong.

After graduating, Emily helped to build the family real estate business. Not satisfied with the high-octane environment of sales, Emily signed a book deal for her YA fantasy novel and has successfully published the first novel in the series.

Always one to be busy (sometimes to her chagrin), she wrote the novel and then completed the edits while pregnant with her cheeky five-year-old boy. As if growing a little human wasn’t exhausting enough!

But her natural curiosity of ‘what’s that car?!’ and 'why don't they do it this way?!' continued throughout and it didn’t come as a surprise to her family when she was drawn into the automotive world professionally as a Contributing Journalist with CarsGuide.

Aside from her passion for what makes a good family car, Emily has a soft spot for Nissan Skylines, big utes and any muscle cars that make the heart thump.

The SUV equivalent of Mercedes-Benz's newest electric sedan, the EQE, is here. It brings a softer kerb-appeal than its sedan sibling but maintains all of the luxury trimmings. Even though it’s most closely related to the GLE , this SUV doesn't sit on fuel-based underpinnings. It’s been designed as...Read more
The Kia EV9 has landed and it’s a big bruiser-looking thing; all squared edges with a healthy dose of swagger thrown in. It’s an upper-large SUV that can comfortably host a family of seven and features trimmings to rival a Christmas tree but it’s also the most expensive Kia to ever launch in...Read more

First launched in 2008, the BMW X6 created history (and a new car category) with its coupe styling on an SUV framework. It was a polarising effort but one that opened up the SUV market for those wanting the size and presence of an SUV without compromising on the sporty styling of a smaller car. The...Read more

The humble station wagon has fallen by the wayside in favour of the ever-popular SUV, however, it was once more common for a very good reason. It offers the space many families crave without having to upsize into a vehicle that can feel big and bulky. A lot of drivers enjoy the sportier on-road...Read more
The Honda CR-V hit our shores in 1997 and it’s been a popular medium SUV for families ever since but the recently launched 2024 (sixth-generation) version sees some much-needed updates to help keep it competitive in a hotly contested market. The newest generation CR-V maintains a handy seven-seat...Read more

The newly updated Polestar 2 Long range Single motor is an electric five-door fastback that has an understated sportiness about it. There are some 'EV' vibes in the styling but this car sways more towards a conventional look than some other electric sedans on the market (I'm looking at you Ioniq 6...Read more
The Mitsubishi ASX ES is the baby SUV from the Mitsubishi stable. It has a great kerbside look and the dimensions that makes it your best friend in the city but it hasn’t had a true redesign and that means it has some solid competition from other compact SUVs, like the Kia Seltos, MG ZS and Suzuki...Read more
Mercedes-Benz has released an all-electric sedan which is the equivalent of its iconic E-Class. It has the looks and technology to rival any EV on the market but what about the practicality for a family ? Will this be the luxury electric sedan families have been hoping for? The Genesis Electrified G80 is a large electric sedan that’s managed to slide in under the radar compared to its competition; the Audi e-tron GT, BMW i5 and Mercedes-Benz EQE. In fact, on first glance, many people assumed I was driving some sort of Bentley (it’s the winged badge!) and some were...Read more

The 2024 Peugeot e-2008 is the French brand's first electric car in Australia. It sits somewhat awkwardly in the semi-premium end of the scale for a small SUV and has some strong competition from the EV side, too, with the Hyundai Kona Electric and Kia Niro EV being its direct competitors. This week I’ve taken the recently updated Alfa Romeo Stelvio Veloce on a massive road trip and after the first few hours of driving it, I thought this is the sort of car you get when you need some extra boot space but still want that sports car vibe. It helps that our test model is finished in the...Read more
The CX-90 G50e Azami is a new top-spec model being offered by Mazda. Not to be confused with the similarly named and sized, CX-9, this large SUV features a gutsier mild-hybrid engine and premium price tag to match.
