Q

MY 2004 Outlander has done 90,000km, it has never gone off road or towed anything, but while driving recently it jerked and stopped suddenly with the back wheels locked. After paying $3000 we were told the problem was caused by faulty bearings in the transfer case and that it was a one-in-a-million problem. We have contacted Mitsubishi and been given a case number and manager, but I want to know if this has happened to anyone else.

YOURS is the first report we've received at carsGuide and a Mitsubishi spokeswoman assures us that they have not heard of this problem before, and that they are investigating your case. Perhaps other readers can let us know if they have suffered the same thing.
