Hyundai Terracan overheating

I bought a 2004 Hyundai Terracan CRDI seven years ago to tow my van and except for one annoying matter I am very happy with it. In warm weather when hauling up a long slow climb of two or three kilometres in length and with the air conditioning on the temperature gauge will quickly head into the red area. Switching off the air will sometimes delay the needle moving so quickly, but it will still go up. The same thing can happen if I am pushing into a fairly strong hot headwind even though I travel at whatever speed 2200 rpm gives me in the conditions. At all other times the gauge rests in the normal position. Prior to the warranty r unning out I had it back to the dealer on a number of occasions to try and solve the problem and have had the fan, radiator cap and thermostat have all been replaced without solving it. My previous van weighed 2.25 tonnes and thinking that it might have been too heavy for the vehicle even though they rate it as ok up to 2.5 tonnes, I changed down to one coming in to just under 2 tonne, but it is still happening. I have never had the problem when not towing. Other Terracan owners I have spoken to say they have no problems. What would you suggest I do?

Have the cooling system flushed, making sure the radiator is clean, and replace use quality coolant. Also check that the fan is actually working when it should be.
