The world’s most sought-after calendar could be yours.

Only 10,000 copies of the Pirelli Calendar are printed each year, and it’s not for sale. The calendar is only ever given away, with the mailing list held as a closely-guarded secret, and only 238 will come to Australia.

Carsguide has managed to get hold of one of those, and together with Pirelli, is offering the chance to win it.

As usual, it features beautiful girls, but this year they have been put in some bizarre situations, in one case in tears with a huge insect crawling on the model’s face.

To enter Carsguide’s calendar competition, tell us if you think the 2009 Pirelli Calendar is beautiful or bizarre – and why. The best comment before January 16 will win the calendar, a couple of early examples of which have already sold on ebay for around $1000.

This competition has now closed and the Carsguide teams thanks everyone for their participation and great entries.

The winner of the 2009 Pirelli Calendar is Jasmine Jones (comment posted January 15 2009). Congratulations Jasmine from everyone at Carsguide.

The Italian tyre company is also offering the chance to win a Volkswagen Pirelli Golf GTI and other prizes – including $100,000 in cash. To enter their competition, buy a Pirelli tyre at any of the participating stores before 30 April 2009, go to pirelliclub.com.au/golf to enter your purchase details.

  • Beautiful and bizarre. This calendar certainly has the WOW factor.

Margaret Hollis Posted on 15 January 2009 9:37pm
  • I find it rather bizarre - not a tire in site, or am I missing something?

Keith Harkin of Cannons Creek/Melbourne/Victoria Posted on 15 January 2009 8:28pm
  • Well, it's slightly 'treading' on the absurd, but just like Pirelli tyres, it's unique, and that's what makes Pirelli great!

Cheryl Eddy Posted on 15 January 2009 5:31pm
  • Simply Stunning. Come grace my walls.

Lisa Quinn of Melbourne Posted on 15 January 2009 5:19pm
  • The pictures are bizarre but extraordinarily compelling and would be an ice breaker at any party. The beautiful models excite me, the wild animals delight me and the quality of the photography is just supurb.

    J Foskett Posted on 15 January 2009 5:05pm
  • A lot of effort goes into making this calendar. I would be honoured to receive one of my very own and cherish it forever!!

Mathew Kirk of Sydney Posted on 15 January 2009 4:59pm
  • I would buy the tyres even more often if each purchase came with a different calendar each time the senery and the girls are stuningly beautiful.

Robert Kerr of Melbourne Australia Posted on 15 January 2009 4:56pm
  • Transition of form from something so few ever get a chance to hold anew. A calender, its not, art is its form, pictures so beautiful, not created but born.

Michael Leventhal Posted on 15 January 2009 4:23pm
  • This calendar is the best I have seen for sometimes, very exotic, sexy and beautiful. All location for shooting these photos are quite nice and very ancient in its way.

Tony Le Posted on 15 January 2009 3:09pm
  • it is bizarrely beautiful! It is strange and exotic but so enticing that I want to see more of it. I love photography that is unique and a step away from everyday pictures to something capturing the spirit of a picture not just the picture itself

kelly jones Posted on 15 January 2009 2:29pm
  • Let's face it the calendar photos are quite bizarre.Placing beautiful models in such a wild environment can't be anything else and must be bordering on a nightmare. Judging from the video it was nightmare for all involved.

Peter Kubler of Adelaide Posted on 15 January 2009 2:14pm
  • It's Barbarella meets Babar!

Art Kongsai of Melbourne Posted on 15 January 2009 1:35pm
  • It is really different to mainstream photography. I think the photo's are pretty amazing and exotic and I love the idea of going into the wildlife's natural environment.

karen ekholm Posted on 15 January 2009 11:14am
  • The pictour tells the story only one wish was young again in beautifull sorroundings i like to be on a island cut off from the outside world beautifull is the word.,like pirelli these girls will be long lasting miliage and wear and tear.last my lifetime out.

  • This calender is one of a kind. The pictures are quite amazing. I always use calenders but this calender is diffrent I love it.

Carolyn Whitford Posted on 15 January 2009 10:14am
  • I think the Pirelli Calendar is beautiful. Some of the situations in which the photos were taken may have been bizarre but I think that Pirelli has, again, shown us that beauty can be found in any situation. " Whether in trees, in mud, on rocks, or ground, Pirelli has shown us where real beauty can be found " Thanks for a great comp, and a great calendar.

Margaret Evans of Sydney Posted on 15 January 2009 9:58am
  • To some it is a work of art, To others its disgusting, Or a stupid lark. I simply need a tool, To get my life ordered, So I'm not a fool

    V. Leitis Posted on 15 January 2009 9:54am
  • striking, confronting, primal, but very very memorable, well done pirelli.

john walker Posted on 15 January 2009 9:33am
  • An inspiring calendar that is both beautiful and bizarre. Which isn't surprising as Pirelli have been pushing the boundaries of not just tyre technology, but have pushed the envelope with developments such as fibre optics as well........This calendar is just another shining example of the way the company "vulcanises" human ability with raw elements of nature and achieves a stirling result!

Justin Ahearn of Darwin Posted on 15 January 2009 8:52am
  • Oh Pirelli… what a beautiful surprise! Gorgeous jungle ladies fill my eyes, Frolicking with wild lives under hot Botswana skies, Looking ultra hot despite model’s cries, Magnificent photography never lies, Attracting so many eager comments like lord of the flies, I will treasure this beautiful Cal like my lovely wives, All credit to the beauty of Pirelli’s artistic eyes.

Allen Lindsay of Melbourne Posted on 15 January 2009 1:31am
  • The filming looks shockingly disgusting initially, But the results certainly look devilishly hot, like peri-peri. While the pictures are neither porn nor art classically, I’m sure the calendar will inspire originality like Pirelli.

Melissa Wright of Melbourne Posted on 15 January 2009 1:28am
  • The pictures are lovely and these gorgeous models are blessed with heavenly bodies and looks… BUT what on earth were they thinking? I’m sure they can have all the projects of choice, walking down Paris fashion runways, gracing international magazine covers. What made them choose to rub shoulders with strange-looking meerkats and brave creepy crawlies deep in the heart of the Botswana jungle? Totally bizarre! But then, I can’t help noticing the beauty and tranquility of nature, the aura and serenity, untouched by the modern world. The models were totally immersing (and enjoying) themselves in the intoxicating beauty of their surrounds, undeterred by the wild, and playing in waterfalls and riding elephants in breathtaking landscapes, surrendering to lights, camera and action. They show the beauty of the Aussie spirit, being fair dinkum, always willing to give it a go, to tough it out outside of the comfort zone, looking on the bright side with a smile on the face. The calendar defies the tradition of “sexiness” by projecting an image of toughness, qualities which I’m sure Pirelli is conveying, besides bringing awareness to the environment, and 12 months of “guilty pleasures” in 2009.

Korik Legimen of Melbourne Posted on 15 January 2009 1:25am
  • Beautiful models, breathtaking scenery, bizarre concept, brilliant calendar, bravo Pirelli!

Nicole Wright of Melbourne Posted on 15 January 2009 1:24am
  • LIFE is like a calendar. Some days are beautiful, some days are bizarre. You never know what day you’re gonna get! Even the most beautiful day has its share of bizarre moments. That’s what makes life unpredictable, interesting, never boring, like the Pirelli calendar. See the humor in life! Have fun! Why be so… serious? I had an absolute ball just thinking about the bizarreness of the Pirelli calendar shoots, and smiling at the humor of the imaginary “talking” meerkats. Don’t see what I see? Check this out! Lonely meerkat is trying to win a date with Queen Pirelli..... Lonely meerkat said, “Howdy Three Meerkateers! Do you mind if I join in?”. One of the Three Meerkateers replied, “Sorry dear, but you have to wait in queue for your turn like the meer mortals at carsguide!”. Have a fun filled, crazy & totally bizarre 2009!

Jasmine Jones of Meer-bourne Posted on 15 January 2009 1:10am
  • That calender has just Gotta go on my wall, Great scenes, Great photography, Great models, Great animals, (love the elephants & models in trees!) and a Great product, Pirelli, Its just gonna make my wall look so dam Good!!! Thankyou DJ.

Roslyn Walker of Brisbane Posted on 15 January 2009 12:25am
  • Beautiful models in exotica, a little softporn erotica! Lovely to see, these women, lovely ride, those Pirelli's! I like the look and feel!

ed olszewski Posted on 15 January 2009 12:22am
  • Definitely BEAUTIFUL. Pirelli calendars are an icon, models line up at the chance to be featured in a calendar. They use top rate photographers, and crew. Granted not all the photos are “normal” and some are not tasteful, but that’s what makes them legendary. A truly treasured item, for any one to own.

frank minas of sydney Posted on 14 January 2009 11:07pm
  • P for Pirelli, the world's best tyre L for longing, to own their calendar E for eye, the models are so easy on A for animals, so wild and free S for sensual, also wild and free E for emotions, and elation at winning - bizzare how such beauty can cause such a fuss!!!!

Terry Ryan of Redcliffe, Qld Posted on 14 January 2009 9:58pm
  • done with shear excelence

Mark Sully of Keilor Posted on 14 January 2009 6:52pm
  • I thought Pirelli made tyres - can't see any spare in this calender!

Audrey Antrobus of WA Posted on 14 January 2009 5:23pm
  • I love the calendar its out there the bizarre mix of animal and womens sexy bodies makes it very natural and humans in tune with nature and our human form.

anthony smart of VICTORIA Posted on 14 January 2009 5:14pm
  • Beautiful, as Pirelli understands that once you run out of things for a girl to do with a tire large African wildlife is the logical next step.

Adam Taylor of Sydney Posted on 14 January 2009 5:00pm
  • Beautiful Intriguing Zanny Amazing Rare Reality Everwanted all in one!

joan nash Posted on 14 January 2009 4:32pm
  • I'm sure my son will love it for his birthday , beautiful & bizarre all in one cooooool...

Rene Guspan Posted on 14 January 2009 4:31pm
  • Beautiful. It sure beats kittens, flowers or Australian scenery that the usual calendars have on them!

Tanya Gloster Posted on 14 January 2009 4:24pm
  • Nice calendar but the Thought Police will probably try to have it banned because the message it sends to teenage wildlife could create a new generation of anorexic elephants in the Serengeti.

Will Fortune of SYDNEY Posted on 14 January 2009 4:08pm
  • Personally, I think they're bizarrely beautiful - the models give the term 'stick insects' a whole new meaning!

Tania Kyreakou Posted on 14 January 2009 12:40pm
  • The mention of selling any copy of a Pirelli calendar on ebay for $1000 can only be depicted as bizarre, who would do something so foolish? Selling a priceless catalogue of art in calendar form for mere dollars, shame on them! Bizarre the art in the 2009 calendar may seem, but only an uncultured swine would dare to mutter anything other then the word beautiful in the presence of such masterpieces which were solely created to depict the world around us, a world that many fail to take notice of everyday, a world one should have constantly staring them in the face… I’d like to be that one!

Luke Reeves of Newcastle, NSW. Posted on 14 January 2009 12:05pm
  • These images on the Pirelli Calender capture a beautiful compostion of wild and sexy women. Together with the spectacular natural environment it allows ones imagination to climb to new levels.

mike Gregory Posted on 14 January 2009 10:17am
  • To be honest i think Pirelli have lost the plot. Its a far cry from the days of smoking hot girls in little bikinis usually smothering themselves over Ferraris and Lamborghinis. Its definitely taken a more sophisticated arty turn with the wild and nature concept but for me its still a calender i'd love to have because it follows the simple male concept of hot girls wearing very little = i want one.

Praveen Weerasinghe of Sydney Posted on 14 January 2009 10:15am
  • I wish I was an elephant. And to think, they never forget...

MIKMAK of Sunshine Coast, QLD Posted on 14 January 2009 12:40am
  • It is positively bizarre to see these models trying to blend into conditions that are so far fetched from their reality, but the reality is the world is dying. Bizarre when we have to have elephants act in a calendar to save their existence.

Sharon Poultney of NSW Posted on 13 January 2009 9:33pm
  • It's both beautiful and bizarre as a combination unusual for the majority. But from nature we are, and for some of us, it's incredibly creative.

Ros Tadd of 4569 Posted on 13 January 2009 9:23pm
  • A stunning calendar that would look fantastic on my feature wall at home to show it's true beauty.

ALISON WHEATLEY of AMAROO Posted on 13 January 2009 6:59pm
  • Clearly Pirelli, the photographer and models were all trying to fulfil a vision. Being a layman, I would need more time, and a real copy of the calendar to study to make an intelligent assessment. But if I have to choose one, I'd say beautiful rather than bizarre

David Williams of Sydney, Australia Posted on 13 January 2009 5:54pm
  • It's bizarre, to say the least. Girls hanging from elephants' tasks, background looking like scenes from 10,000 Years BC! Of course it's bizarre.

Shah Alam Posted on 13 January 2009 5:00pm
  • The 2009 Pirelli Calendar shoot was probably bizarre for the featured models but the photography can only be described as beautiful, even Mother Nature would treasure possessing a copy of such well captured elements.

Leesa Thorp of Newcastle. Posted on 13 January 2009 4:48pm
  • beautiful-to say the least, the stunning girls can be photgraphed with a so called normall look when being chased by an elephant and insects crawling over there face. its really shows there iner beauty and desire for there work.

Mick Hore of Darwin Australia Posted on 13 January 2009 4:28pm
  • Why must it be beautiful OR bizarre? Why can't it be both? It's like seeing polar bears dancing the tango - weird yes, but amazing all the same.

Anita Nemarich of Watsons Bay Posted on 13 January 2009 4:04pm
  • The Pirelli calender is quite beautiful but the models get too close to nature and this is totally bizarre.

Carissa Smetanin of Narrabri Posted on 13 January 2009 3:57pm
  • Beautiful because the expressions on the models faces portray one of discomfort and concern about being completely outside their element. They actually look like they're really working for their money for once.... Which is much like what Pirelli Tyres do... work well for what you pay.

Ly Yiv of Adelaide Posted on 13 January 2009 2:41pm
  • A stunning artistic delight Pirelli sure got this one right Beautiful? Bizarre? Beauty has it by far!

Katrina Tomaszek of Bunbury WA Posted on 13 January 2009 1:37pm
  • The girls are beautiful, the creatures bizarre, but winning a Pirelli Calendar for my husband would be better than winning a car! Not to mention the points I'd score, I'd have him eating out of my hand for years I'm sure!

faye marks of Melbourne Posted on 13 January 2009 12:36pm
  • Beautifully bizarre...just like my wife! The Pirelli Calendar I've wanted all my life ~ Please Mr Pirelli!!!

Rod Marks of Melbourne Posted on 13 January 2009 12:14pm
  • Bizarre but beautiful - its unique, but what is Pirelli thinking cluttering up the scenery with fabulous looking bipeds who are clearly way outside their comfort environment?

Dario Tomat Posted on 13 January 2009 11:56am
  • Pirelli are known for their beautiful round shapes, as are the models.

Grant West Posted on 13 January 2009 9:16am
  • The Pirelli calendar is beautiful. Beautiful women, beautifully shot in beautiful settings. The Pirelli calendar is well renowned, worldwide and I for one would love to have my own copy.

Rod Gillard of Sydney Posted on 13 January 2009 8:37am
  • Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, bizzare is a term of mind, both girls and animals are beautiful. Well done Perilli.

Carolynn Blair Posted on 13 January 2009 6:24am
  • Pirelli calendar is both beautiful and bizarre Both calendar and tyres the best by far

Margaret Hollis Posted on 12 January 2009 7:22pm
  • Pirelli always seems to capture everyone's attention one way or another. To be beautiful and bizarre you have to be unique and Pirelli has got both down pat! Just gorgeous!

Tina Verni Posted on 12 January 2009 4:30pm
  • bizarre, as it appears the beautiful models are unwilling to share any botox with the elephants!

marie mannion Posted on 12 January 2009 4:04pm
  • Beautiful. It surpasses the likes of other so called glamour calendar year in year out..

Katriona Roberts Posted on 12 January 2009 2:39pm
  • Well it is both bizarre and beautiful, the girls and the surroundings are amazing, but it still leaves me with one burning question............................ What has it got to do with tyres!!!!!!

Donna Brougham of Darwin Posted on 12 January 2009 2:01pm
  • Stunning! A spectacular visual extravaganza that provides an amazing kaleidescope of color and life in a natural setting. The enrgy and beaty of life both human and animal is depicted in a harmonious and interdependent manner.

Bernadette Morriss of Northern territory Posted on 12 January 2009 10:48am
  • It's both beautiful AND bizarre, all in all. But I'd still like to have it on my wall.

Raymond Lobley of Brisbane's urban jungle Posted on 12 January 2009 10:31am
  • The only thing that is bizzare is the location, the girls again are beautiful and sexy.

david eefting Posted on 12 January 2009 9:16am
  • Bizarre! Due to the locations where these Beautiful girls are made to have their photo shoots. Its great I want one too!!!!

Alan Formosa of Adelaide Posted on 12 January 2009 8:26am
  • It doesn't matter about the location or the circumstances of the filming of such beautiful girls. But under stress of this photo shoot, the passion of the girls is evident and truly shows us that beautiful women were put on this earth to be admired and adored. The human female form is a canvas. A lovely female body is a work of art and if that art can be used to raise awareness of the delicate ecology of our planet, then so it should be.

Willem Westra van Holthe Posted on 12 January 2009 8:10am
  • beautifull its amazing to look at as it has gorgeous women and beautifull landscape and aminals all of our natural beauties brought together as one

jody baxter of thornton Posted on 12 January 2009 7:46am
  • i find this is beautifull not bizare its showing the greatest creations women and nature cant get much beautifull then that

jody baxter of thornton Posted on 12 January 2009 7:43am
  • How's the serenity, not a sound. Oh no, look out for the large elephant running behind you! Lucky there are some supermodels to distract us from the thunderous motion of large beasts running toward us. This calender is the combination of beauty & the beast.

James Kermode Posted on 12 January 2009 2:14am

  • The Pirelli Calender makes me get a grip on the current day so that time does not get away

Amanda Gorton of penrith Posted on 11 January 2009 8:15pm
  • OK I get it - Pirelli make tyres right? Part of the tyre making process is called calendering. Knew there was a connection there somewhere. The ladies are beautiful and the locations and situations they find themselves in are definitely bizarre. Let's applaud the environmentally awareness factor. Go Pirelli.

Anthony Davies of Australia Posted on 11 January 2009 6:06pm
  • I'm going to go with beautiful. Female models are too often photographed the same way a fridge or TV would be shot for a commercial - cold, sterile, hermetically sealed in a bubble of perfection. Surrounding them with mud, water, sunshine and animals highlights their place in nature, not society. Great stuff.

Jonathan Trinder of Toowoomba Posted on 11 January 2009 2:14pm
  • Beautifully Wild Women and Beautiful Wild Animals could it be better?

Kerrie-Lea Scarman of Port Pirie SA Posted on 11 January 2009 1:43pm
  • I'm going to go with beautiful. Female models are too often photographed the same way a refrigerator or TV in a commercial would be - sterile, cold, hermetically sealed in some kind of perfection bubble. Putting them in an environment of mud, water, animals and sunshine highlights their place in nature, not society. Great stuff.

Jonathan Trinder of Toowoomba Posted on 11 January 2009 12:55pm
  • I would have to say the calender is a 1 of a kind/the sleek/ the strenghth/combined with mother natures beauty/evokes thoughts that are rarely considered in todays fast paced world/it is a work of art that stand the test of time/

ptw linsley of west australia Posted on 10 January 2009 11:52pm

  • Superbly sexy and superbly Pirelli...the rubber hits the road hard!

Phil of Australia Posted on 10 January 2009 4:16pm
  • Combines the wild and the beautiful with the power of nature, what can be found in the auto industry. These pictures show what motoring is about with a car in site. It may be bizarre but in the best way.

Neil Harvey of Newcastle Posted on 10 January 2009 1:43pm
  • Simply beautiful and just like the Pirelli organisation, the calendar is innovative, exciting, bold, daring, flashy, classy, and without peer. Gold medal excellence. No need to say any more as it stands alone as the best of calendars.

Peter Clonan of WA Dalyellup Posted on 10 January 2009 1:27pm

Richard Younger of Tamworth Posted on 10 January 2009 10:24am

    W. Moyses of Perth. Posted on 09 January 2009 10:17pm
  • For over 40 years the Pirelli Calendar has been beautiful, bizarre and both. I love the way it provides an ever changing barometer on the fashions and the ideals of glamour over the years. It’s a world icon.

Darryl Moir of Victoria Posted on 09 January 2009 8:45pm
  • Far from bizarre, it's great to see Peter Beard capturing the zeitgeist – Using the primitive beauty of Africa to symbolise the destruction of our environment but bringing it to the world’s attention using contemporary beauty in the form of the supermodel. I’ve been a follower of the Pirelli Calendar for years and this is the finest collection of images that Pirelli have put together since the 1996 edition. Simply stunning!

Kirsty Umback of St Kilda Posted on 09 January 2009 8:24pm
  • While it may seem to be a bizzare melding of man and beast I find the total concept to be of the high standard that we have come to expect from Pirelli over the years.

Doug Thorogood Posted on 09 January 2009 5:39pm
  • A beautiful living sculpture from Pirelli. Far from Bizare it interprets women as the generators of life and the majestic elephant as a resprensentation of the wisdom of nature set in an unspolied landscape. Just beautiful and very fitting for such a socially and environmentally responsible company that is Pirelli.

Brent Woolgar of Brisbane Posted on 09 January 2009 3:57pm
  • The 2009 Pirelli Calendar looks like a beautiful addition. It's such a magnificent idea to combine some of the most beautiful creatures of both the animal and human world - the question for each will be what captures your attention most - the women or the animals? The models may have the most beautiful bodies in the world but those animals are amongs the rarest and this calendar provides an even rarer visual of them. My first introduction to the Pirelli Calendar was when I used to work at a modest Italian restaurant in Sydney where the Pirelli team used to frequent. One year the Chef was fortunate enough to receive a calendar - years later it still hung in the kitchen providing a much needed distraction and incentive for the kitchen staff.

Natasha Luschwitz of Sydney Posted on 09 January 2009 1:52pm
  • A picture is worth a thousand words.

    Bernard Posted on 09 January 2009 1:09pm
  • Bizarre! Cameramen in shot with models. Weird. Elephants and models? Contrasting the huge with the petite? Bizarre I say.

Terry Legg of Ardlethan Posted on 09 January 2009 12:43pm
  • A little weird, almost reminds me of "Where's Wally". Still looks like a wonderful product with beautiful girls!

David Gilchrist of Adelaide Posted on 09 January 2009 10:55am
  • Beautiful of course. A bevvy of beuties on God's own earth - and how does one get to these places with these beauties? In a car.

Taruia Nicholls of Perth Posted on 09 January 2009 10:32am
  • Beautiful – It’s like Top Model meets Madagascar, but with more ‘perk’ and less penguins. Natural beauties in natural surroundings, Pirelli’s gone wild with this one.

Jason Round Posted on 09 January 2009 8:18am
  • absolutely beautiful and in no way bizarre. to see such a combination of beauty; scenery, wild animals and the human form is a fabulous sight.

perry hamel of toronto Posted on 09 January 2009 7:39am
  • Absolutely beautiful but Bizzare that I couldnt get my girlfriend in the mood, but once I showed her the calender online she was ready to jump me! It works well for both of us wink
