with a display of classic TV and film cars and family-favourite Shrek set to take prime billing on the show’s Family Day.  A host of cars will be on display outside the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre (SCEC) on Saturday, 23 October – the official Family Day of AIMS 2010.

Original movie cars from Herbie and The Blues Brothers will be displayed in the Darling Harbour precinct alongside replicas from Gone in 60 Seconds, The Dukes of Hazzard and two more Herbie Volkswagen Beetles.

An original Disney movie Herbie that starred in both Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo and Herbie Goes Bananas will sit alongside a ‘Bluesmobile’ – one of the actual 1974 Dodge Monacos used in cult classic The Blues Brothers.

Replicas of the Dodge Charger known as the ‘General Lee’ from The Dukes of Hazzard TV series and the famous ‘Eleanor’ Shelby Mustang of Gone in 60 Seconds fame will also be on display.

Other famous movie and TV cars are expected and AIMS director Russ Tyrie believes the classic cars will be a hit with adults and children alike.

“It is great that we will have original movie cars like Herbie and the Bluesmobile alongside some flawless replicas,” Mr Tyrie said.

“The motor show has long been an event for the whole family, and I’m sure these cars will really add to the atmosphere on Family Day.

"They will undoubtedly bring back fond memories for nearly everyone who comes along.”

Shrek, who will appear between 11.30am and 2.30pm, will headline an array of family entertainment that will take place inside the SCEC on the second Saturday of the motor show.

Show organisers have confirmed Shrek will be joined by face painters, clowns, magicians and balloon artists from 10am on Saturday, 23 October.

The Australian International Motor Show will be held at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre in Darling Harbour. The show opens at 5pm on Friday, 15 October and runs until 6pm on Sunday, 24 October.
