  • how much road tax would i pay for a new bmw 1 series 118d

  • The tax hike is something that is really a tarrif on cars that may not raise a cent. It will placate welfare voters who snear at these cars but will be harmful to farmers who need large vehicles like Landcruisers to work on farms. The price on some cars will come down due to tarrif reductions but who cares about Rolls and Porsche cars. The hike is typically labour politics but the threshold level has been effective at liberal levels to help down price Mercedes prices in Australia. Don't buy one if you don't want to pay it! Buy it second hand next year.

  • Extra 50K for a roller - poor buggers!!!

  • Read again , the Roller will cost you an extra 50K. Thats no drop in the ocean. Its a rip off regardless of how wealthy you are.

  • If people are whinging about the price increase then its obvious they are stretching their budget to the limit so why not purchase something you can afford that does not attract a luxury tax. as for the rest of us I have no problrm paying a few extra pennies to get what I want and not have to whinge about it.

  • I find this tax hike to be a quick-fix plan that will crumble in the long term miserably. I understand the Government trying to ease the ridiculously high interest rates we already have to cope with. I am 17 years old and about to finish my HSC, aspiring to earn myself a Ferrari, already almost unreachable, the Government further pulls my life goal away from me. I won't have enough money to pay for a "Tax Advisor" to help me avoid this kick in the nuts. I can't buy a nice house, nor an extravagent car, what else?

  • Generally speaking, and relative to the major number of lower priced higher end auto purchases, the increase is not unreasonable. If one is fortunate enough to afford a Roller at $900 grand a mere $10,000 or so extrra is a drop in the ocean of wealth that "one" obviously has. If it were me I would have no objection, and of course high-rolers also get very good Tax advice [for which they pay in any case], and will probably find a legal loophole to apply, and if not, a deductible expense component will likely be identified.
