Carsguide?s tipsters John Bowe, Mick Doohan, Chris Lambden, Mark Larkham, Paul Radisich and Jim Richards give their picks.

JOHN BOWE, two-time Bathurst winner:
1. Mark Winterbottom/Steven Richards
2. Craig Lowndes/Jamie Whincup
3. Garth Tander/Will Davison

"I think Winterbottom is equal to the best drivers out there, Richards is very solid at Bathurst, so they are a good combination. And the team is very hungry, with Campbell Little now to give them a boost. I think the planets might line up for them."

MICK DOOHAN, MotoGP legend:
1. Jamie Whincup/Craig Lowdnes
2. James Courtney/Steve Johnson
3. Russell Ingall/Owen Kelly

"Jamie is my team-mate at the Race of Champions next month so I'll tip him, plus Vodafone are a good company. Courtney is always fast at Bathurst, with three successive podiums. Russell can show there's still a bit of speed left among those of us in the over-40 club!"

CHRIS LAMBDEN, publisher Australian Motorsport News
1. Mark Winterbottom/Steven Richards
2. Garth Tander/Will Davison
3. Jamie Whincup/Craig Lowndes

"The odds suggest Triple Eight have to trip up sometime, otherwise it's boring."

MARK LARKHAM, former driver and team owner:
1. Garth Tander/Will Davison
2. Jamie Whincup/Craig Lowndes
3. James Courtney/Steven Johnson

"It's really 'Why not?' for 888. I struggle to see how they can run 4000 kilometres unbeaten, but the big thing is they are changing to Holdens next year and that's a massive engineering commitment and a distraction from making their Hogsters go fast at Bathurst."

PAUL RADISICH, retired racer:

1. Garth Tander/Will Davison
2. Jamie Whincup/Craig Lowndes
3. James Courtney/Steven Johnson

"On the law of averages, it’s the red Holden. How many times have the other blokes won it?"

JIM RICHARDS, seven-time Bathurst winner:

1. Mark Winterbottom/Steven Richards
2. Garth Tander/Will Davison
3. Craig Lowndes/Jamie Whincup.

"I just think the last two Bathursts they could have won. But Frosty speared off in 2007 and last year they were using the tyres too hard. They've been fast enough and this one should be the one."

GLENN SETON, best driver never to win Bathurst:

1. Craig Lowdnes/Jamie Whincup
2. Garth Tander/Will Davison
3. James Courtney/Steven Johnson
"Lowndes and Whincup together are a class act at Bathurst. There are really only two cars that can win if they have no mechanical issues an only a human error will stop them and hand the win to HRT."
