Bayliss fronts Superbike Club

A two-wheeled dream garage has just opened in Australia.

All sorts of exotic motorcycles _ from the Bimota DB7 to a Harley Davidson Fat Boy, a BMW R1200GS and even a Ducati Desmosedici - are part of the lineup at the Superbike Club.

It's an extension of the members-only Supercar Club which has been a hit thanks to a wide range of four-wheel exotics that people desperately want to drive _ but not pay to own.

Troy Bayliss, the three-time World Superbike champion whose own Gold Coast garage is crowded with very special Ducatis including his title-winning superbikes, can see the advantages.

"It just makes sense, really. Most people will just want to cruise up the street, have a coffee, and say 'wow, look at that'," says Bayliss.

He is the newly-installed spokesman for the Superbike Club but says it's more than just a spruiking job for him.

"I'm a firm believer. Most people don't want the hassles of actually owning an exotic car or bike themselves," he says.

"They are quite happy to get something for the weekend, not have it parked in the garage for most of the time. If you can have bikes like this to use when you want, it makes sense."

Bayliss has already been dipping into the Supercar Club pool, and is a fan of the Aston Martin DB9, but will be working harder for the Superbike Club. He will be coach and advisor at the track days which come as part of the package, together with rider training.

"I'll come along to the track days and be part of the action. The members will enjoy the chance to have a bit of a fang and I'll enjoy myself as well," he says.

But there is a price, and it's a big one.

The annual fee for the Superbike Club is $7700, which comes after a one-off joining fee of $1725.

"But that's a fraction of the price of motorcycle ownership. The Superbike Club gives you access to an amazing collection of motorcycles without having to worry about registration, insurance or maintenance," says Tim Sommers, chairman of the Superbike Club.

"Being a member of The Superbike Club provides you with the chance to ride a number of different bikes which have been specifically created for a range of environments. There is no reason why you can't spend a day on the open highway on a Ducati Desmosedici and then the next weekend, take to the trails on a Kawasaki KX 450."

The club is now open in Victoria, NSW and Queensland and the two-wheel lineup runs to a pair of Ducati Desmosedici race replicas to a pair of Bimota DB7s, the Harley Davidson Fat Boy, a Moto Morini Corsaro Veloce, a Victory Vision Tour Arlen Ness, a BMW R 1200GS Adventure, BMW G 450X Enduro, two Kawasaki KX450s and a CAN-AM Spyder.

More will come as the club expands.

Only 250 club memberships are available, which gives access to up to 30 days of riding.
