FORMER team mates Neil Bates and Simon Evans go head-to-head in Adelaide this weekend to decide the 2009 Australian Rally Championship. It's a winner-take-all battle with Bates recently tweaking the Corolla S2000 car he shares with Coral Taylor to find more speed to combat the quick Mitsubishi Evo used by Evans and his co- driving wife Sue.

MARK Webber will have at least one more year with Red Bull Racing after extending his existing contract with the team. He agreed a deal in the week following his landmark victory in Germany and the contract extension means he will also race through 2010 with Sebastian Vettel as his team mate.

WILL Power has scored his first Indy Racing League win with Team Penske, making the breakthrough with a dominant performance at Edmonton in Canada. Power is still chasing a fulltime drive and is only guesting with Penkse, which also got Helio Castroneves into second and Ryan Briscoe to fourth in the latest IRL race.

MARCOS Ambrose ran as high as ninth but was only 22nd at the flag in his latest Sprint Car start at Indianapolis. Even so, his solid performance behind Brickyard winner Jimmie Johnson keeps him 18th in the Nascar points.

CHAD Reed was utterly dominant on his 450cc Suzuki in the latest round of the AMA Motocross championship in the USA. He was first in both heats at Washougal and is the easy leader of the outdoor series heading to the next race in New York state.

THE Stig, or Ben Collins as he is known away from the cameras of Top Gear television, will race a V8 Supercar at Phillip Island and Bathurst. Collins has been drafted into Jack Daniels Racing, pairing with veteran Nathan Pretty as Todd and Rick Kelly join forces in the outfit's lead Commodore.
