Briscoe takes third
Aussie Ryan Briscoe finished third in this year's IndyCar World Series in the US by coming second in the final race at Homestead-Miami Speedway in Florida. Briscoe qualified third for the title decider but could not gain enough ground on Dario Franchitti, who won the final and became a two-time IndyCar champion. He'd previously won in 2007.

Webb ahead
Jonothan Webb stretched his lead in the Fujitsu V8 Supercar series with a pair of wins at Mount Panorama last weekend. James Moffat was fast but made some costly errors, allowing Webb to triumph over David Russell. The victories give Webb a 79-point series break in his Gulf Western Oils Falcon.

Brabham's star rising
Matthew Brabham, the 15-year-old son of Geoff and grandson of Sir Jack, is one of two young racers who will have support from CAMS next year through the organisation's Rising Stars program. Brabham will race the national Formula Ford championship. Seventeen-year-old Jack Le Brocq will be stepping up from Formula Vee racing in Victoria.

Lights fantastic
James Davison completed his Indy Lights season with fifth place at Homestead-Miami, good enough for second place in the feeder series to the prestigious IndyCar championship in the US. Davison, cousin to V8 Supercar drivers Will and Alex, has yet to decide on a program for next year.
