World’s first diesel hybrid

  • image

The HYbrid4 power train delivers a lean 3.8 litres/100km low and low engine emissions of 99g/km of CO2.

The first full diesel hybrid vehicle has just gone on sale in the UK.

Priced from 26,995 the new Peugeot 3008 HYbrid4 is due here towards the middle of next year.

This environmentally friendly, ground breaking car introduces a combination of diesel and electric power, a real breakthrough in technology and renewed driving sensations, while also delivering huge benefits in cost of ownership.

The HYbrid4 power train delivers a lean 3.8 litres/100km low and low engine emissions of 99g/km of CO2, with four driving modes - Auto, ZEV (Zero Emission Vehicle), Sport and 4WD.

That's 35 per cent less than an internal combustion engine with the same output.

The car features an unusual drive train arrangement, with a 121kW 2.0-litre HDi FAP diesel engine that drives the front wheels and an 27kW electric motor that powers the rear wheels, with a combined power output of 149kW.

In the UK the car qualifies for an exemption from the London's prohibitive Congestion Charge.

Having sold out of the 3008 HYbrid4 limited edition, the range offers two versions: a 99g/km CO2 at 26,995 and 104g/km CO2 at 28,495.

  • Can it pull a small trailer? Great car, low in fuel AND 4x4 if need be, like on wet grass or some slippery drive ways. I think this is the car for me.

  • I second Shaddows comment. Also note can do all wheel drive at a push. Try getting 3.8L/100km from an Impreza.

  • Sorry FrugalOne but for the size vehicle your getting that fuel figure is very good. Remember to compare apples to apples. I think it's a great combo and price. Look forward to hearing more about it and seeing more competitors cars on market now its here.

  • @PRIMO! Its priced very very well for what you get, seeing Diesel and Hybrids are always a premium price extra. What is VERY disappointing is the fuel economy, you can buy cars that have similar economy with a standard turbo diesel, also Fiat Groups Engine of the Year [twin cylinder.] gives similar low consumption from a ULP [lowest in the world]. So, for a Diesel x Hybrid cross its a high figure. The world is waiting for a under 3L/100km engine/car.
