Vote for YOUR choice from our gallery...

This competition closed at 11.59pm Wednesday July 13.

The winners will be announced on Carsguide.com.au on Monday July 18. Stay tuned…

It's up to you to decide which car is the best of the contenders from the Australian International Motor Show. And you could win one of the best cars to arrive this year - just by voting.

Each carmaker at the Australian International Motor Show has nominated a vehicle on their stand as their entry in the Carsguide Car of the Motor Show. It might be a special concept, it might be an exotic sports car, it might be a locally-built hero, it might be a fuel-sipping eco star ... or even a popular model designed to win in the sales stakes.

And one lucky voter will win one the stunning Lexus CT 200h worth more than $47,000 on the road, while six others will each win $1000.

The CT 200h is Lexus’s first-ever luxury hybrid hatch, and proves ‘green’ doesn’t mean boring, and delivers eco-friendly technology wrapped in a stylish package. The prize car is Prestige spec with an Enhancement Pack including leather upholstery, heated front seats, 17-in wheels, electro-chromatic mirrors and a reversing camera.

To enter, vote for YOUR choice using the code word from our gallery (see gallery link under photo) . SMS your name and your choice.

The SMS numbers for each state are:

  • NSW/ACT: 197 467 67
  • VIC: 199 888 00
  • TAS: 197 036 63
  • QLD: 197 197 22
  • WA: 199 882 00
  • SA/NT: 199 199 03

Be sure to use the number for your home state so that your vote counts!

The winner of the Lexus CT 200h will be selected at random from all those who vote, no matter which car they voted for in the competition.

Competition closes 23:59 (AEST) 13/07/2011. Competition is drawn 14/07/2011 at Salmat Interactive, 100 Arthur Street, North Sydney, NSW 2060. Authorised under NSW: LTPS/11/05505; ACT: TP 11/02335; VIC 11/1181; SA: T11/1180. For full terms and conditions see here.

  • The Oracle, Jane, Michael, Peter, Max, guess you rock up to the news agent and expect your Lotto and scratchies to be free too, or do the Centrelink payments stretch that far?

  • I agree - far too many shows and web sites only want us to sms and waste our money while they get a cut with Telstra. No thanks and advertisers, no thanks to your products under such scrooge conditions.

  • For davey g, I understand how someone can access the internet but not have a mobile phone. Some people access the internet from a friend's place or library because they can't afford the internet, let alone a mobile phone. Also, we lived in a remote area of WA where mobile phones didn't work but we had satellite internet.

  • If entry was free, how would they pay for the Lexus prize?

Brian of Brisbane Posted on 12 July 2011 8:52pm
  • Agreed, if they were genuine and not just trying to rake off huge telecom monies they would allow online entries. I am considering unsubscribing as a protest... not sure how to do that and let the site know that is why I am unsubscribing. --- Ed. For legal validity, we have to ensure all votes are in the same pool, hence ? like many of the TV programs on which you can vote ? our voting is by SMS. Many home phones can also be used to send an SMS, and your phone service provider can tell you if you are able to do this.

  • Jane you are spot on! I seem to recall that last year, online entries were an option. --- Ed. Voting has always been via SMS, there has never been an online alternative.

  • Clearly it's about making money folks via expensive SMS. Otherwise we could just fill in a form online. --- Ed. For legal validity, we have to ensure all votes are in the same pool, hence ? like many of the TV programs on which you can vote ? our voting is by SMS. • Why SMS, what if you do not have a mobile, some people don't.

Michael Attwell of ACT Posted on 12 July 2011 1:10pm
  • Somebody that uses the internet but doesn't have a mobile phone? I find that a bit strange...

davey g of Sydney Posted on 12 July 2011 1:07pm
  • Why SMS, you have via E-Mail response should be VIA E-Mail, I have the same issue as Henry, NO 199 numbers from my home, you should catering for ALL not just a select few????? --- Ed. The winner has to be randomly chosen from a single pool of entries to be compliant with the terms of the competition. Combining entries from both SMS and email would not be possible to satisfy the legal requirements.

Peter Caine of Adelaide Posted on 12 July 2011 12:20pm
  • How do I put SMS through my home phone? I do not have a mobile if that is what i need. --- Ed. You'll need to check with your service provider whether they offer SMS from your home phone.
