The next time you rear-end another car, whatever you do, don't admit you were applying your lipstick or checking your hair at the time. That's the advice from Queensland's peak motoring group.
The RACQ says most drivers don't understand their rights and responsibilities after a crash and that can have very serious consequences, including affecting legal and insurance claims down the track.
"Motorists should take care not to make any statements, such as admitting liability to other drivers, police or witnesses," RACQ spokesman Mike Sopinski says.
He says many drivers may not know they can even refuse to give police a signed statement. The RACQ is encouraging drivers to watch their video about what to do in the aftermath of a crash.
