Welcome to the 2012 Motor Show

...since the joint venture was established between the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries and the Victorian Automobile Chamber of Commerce.

This year marks the second time the motor show will be held at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre since the joint venture was established between the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries and the Victorian Automobile Chamber of Commerce.

In its third showing overall, including Melbourne last year, the Australian International Motor Show continues to go from strength to strength and continues to be recognised on the global stage. As the premier event of the Australian automotive industry each year, it is the responsibility of the Australian International Motor Show to inform, educate and excite the public about everything motoring.

And I am confident that the 2012 Motor Show will deliver on that promise. Almost 95 per cent of all new cars sold in Australia this year will be represented at the Motor Show and we have 27 brands exhibiting their current, future and in some instances, concept range of vehicles.

Visitors to the Motor Show will be the first in the world to see exciting new vehicles with multiple brands confirming global reveals in Sydney and many more southern hemisphere debuts also. We have cars on display for everyday motorists, luxury vehicles through to dream supercars with masses of exciting new and futuristic technology guaranteed to impress.

There are also many special exhibits showcasing the very best of Australian automotive design and engineering, demonstrating the passion and vision many people have about our motoring industry. And for the first time ever, we have a large outdoor presence so be sure to join us at Darling Harbour for a truly interactive and handson Motor Show experience.

Xbox 360 will host the Australian launch of its newest automotive racing game Forza Horizons right here at this year’s Motor Show and if you’ve ever considered yourself a record breaker, you’ve come to the right place with world and national record attempts also being conducted.

Family Day is here to stay, with both Saturdays providing plenty of entertainment for the whole family, including Alex the Lion from Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted meeting and greeting fans of all ages. This year marks the end of an era.

The Australian International Motor Show will not be returning to the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre in 2014 as it is due to close for an extensive redevelopment project. Instead the Motor Show will head to Sydney Showground which will allow us to diversify and expand – as the saying goes, one door closes but another door opens. We hope you’re excited about the 2012 Australian International Motor Show – we certainly are!
