Developed in conjunction with Arctic Trucks for the amazing 385 nautical mile Top Gear race against a dog sled from Resolute to the North Magnetic Pole in the Arctic.
Each of the two HiLuxes underwent more than 240 hours of custom modifications. Oversized flared guards covering AT405 38-inch studded snow tyres (which operated at pressures as low as 4psi to minimize bearing pressure on the snow), winch mounting points at either end of the vehicle to effect either forward or reverse recovery, a custom 4.88:1 diff ratio, a 90-litre auxiliary fuel tank running a special cold-compatible diesel blend (170 litres in total), heavy-duty skid plates, 40mm of suspension lift, bespoke dampers…and even a shotgun to deter overly curious polar bears.
