Small stars with big names at the motor show

The 2012 Australian International Motor Show has been home to the eagerly anticipated new look unveilings for some small cars with the big names.

An impressive number of the manufacturers selected the Show in Sydney as the venue to display new looks for their small stars including the all-new Toyota Corolla and the next generation Volkswagen Beetle.

Holden and Ford have both expanded their small-mid size car ranges with Holden unveiling the Barina CDX, the first in its range to feature its new MyLink infotainment system whilst Ford also took the wraps off the brand-new Focus ST.

Also unveiled ahead of their return to Australian roads were the all-new Mitsubishi Mirage and Nissan Pulsar, with Opel using the Show to confirm it will be bringing the Astra OPC down under.

Honda revealed its newest small car variant, the Jazz Hybrid whilst Suzuki Australia also had a one-off Suzuki Swift concept taking centre stage on its stand.

“New vehicle sales data from this year reflects a continued increase in popularity of light, small and medium-sized vehicles in Australia,” said Russ Tyrie, Event Director.

“Manufacturers are across this trend and it is definitely reflected on the floor of the Show with many unveiling new looks to existing popular models and others unveiling brand-new small cars altogether.”

The 2012 Australian International Motor Show will be held at the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre, Darling Harbour until Sunday 28 October, opening at 10am daily.
