A new GTS version of the Porsche Panamera is about to come on stream.

Porsche has tweaked Panamera's naturally aspirated 4.8-litre petrol V8 for more power and torque as well as improving chassis responses and the exterior look up to Panamera Turbo spec'.

Now with 316kW and 520Nm, the GTS out-hits Panamera stablemates Sand 4S by a considerable margin thanks to numerous modifications including air intake revisions, a new camshaft profile, recalibrated engine computer and changes to the valve system.

The GTS scores four wheel drive via a seven-speed Porsche PDK transmission. The four seater GTS has a kerb weight of 1,920kg and can accelerate from 0-100kmh in 4.5 seconds but fuel consumption remains a respectable 10.9-litres/100km impressive for a big GT car like this.

At the push of a button, driver and passengers can hear the engine of the GTS `breathing'; the Sound Symposer directs intake noise into the interior for sensory benefits.

It can be activated or deactivated by means of the Sport button which also affects the Panamera GTS's drive behaviour. The GTS features a tuned chassis boasting performance-oriented options fitted as standard.

For example, adaptive air suspension combined with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) increases both comfort and driving dynamics by adjusting the spring rate and electrically adjusting the damping system, combined with a self-leveling height adjustment function.

With the air suspension at its normal level the Panamera GTS sits 10 mm lower than the other models in the Panamera range and its damping is designed to be tauter, reinforcing the sporting personality.

Dynamic performance is further enhanced by the combination of 19-inch diameter Panamera Turbo wheels, 5 mm rear wheel spacers and larger brake discs from the Turbo. The Sport Chrono package as standard, which in addition to the Normal and Sport modes offers the Sport Plus program as well.
