This Maserati's Chinese owner fought hammer and tongs with his dealership over service issues.

Hires assistants to help destruct the exotic after poor service

A disgruntled Maserati owner in China has hired a gang of sledgehammer-wielding men to help publicly destroy his Maserati Quattroporte, in protest over poor service from his dealer.

According to the Xinhua news agency, the dealer had repaired the $250,000 exotic saloon with a used replacement part and charged the owner for a new part, in addition to a number of other long-standing quality and maintenance issues. The destruction symbolically took place outside the venue for the Quingdao International Auto Show, and the Maserati was left with smashed windows and severely dented panelwork.

In addition to the public location for the event, the owner reportedly broadcast the destruction on Chinese social media source Weibo, with live updates of the event.

The event follows a similar incident in 2011, where a Lamborghini Gallardo was destroyed by its Chinese owner and a team of henchmen on World Consumer Rights day.

  • Something to be said about having more money than the end, his car was ruined and the dealership had his money. And the winner is?!?!?!? What's next, Mercedes, Aston Martin, McLaren.....

  • It's a pity they aren't as fair when it comes to their own rubbish cars. This is how all Chinese built cars should end up.

  • I dont care what the dealership did. Defecating art like the Maserati Quattroporte GTS is a sin! The owner should be put in penatentiary for crimes against humanity.
