Every year the Shannons Melbourne Motor Show auction attracts both serious collectors and wishful thinkers.
Classic auction house Shannons is a weaver of automotive dreams.
Every year its Melbourne Motor Show auction attracts both serious collectors and wishful thinkers and this year it is selling a rare ready-to-drive, all-electric car. The stately 1914 Rauch & Lang Electric Brougham is the star car for the auction, which will be held on Monday, March 9.
The four-seater has remarkable all-round visibility and a touring range of up to 130km, with its back-seat driver able to steer through city traffic — using a tiller — at speeds up to 50km/h.
It will be sold with no reserve price, but it is expected to fetch between $35,000 to $50,000.
The Rauch & Lang Electric Brougham is one of 50 classic vehicles and 50 items of automotive memorabilia to go under the hammer. Check out all the vehicles in the concourse at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre throughout the show.
