The extras are additional to the base model Omega sedan (listed at $39,990 +ORC) and Omega Sportwagon ($41,990).

Since the VE was released in 2006, Holden's special edition packs have included the 60th Anniversary, International, Lumina and now Equipe for the sedan and Sportwagon, while VE ute packs have included Thunder.

The Equipe pack includes cosmetic additions such as 18-inch alloy wheels, leather seat trim and steering wheel, front foglamps, various bits of chrome a rear cargo blind on the Sportwagon, Equipe badging and"prestige" paint.

The more practical additions are a rear-view camera and rear parking sensors.

  • I'd love a diesel myself, but its just not in the mix price wise. I'm not sure why anyone would think 190kw 290Nm can't drag around 1700kg when 65kw 180Nm used to be the engine for the older ones at 1450kg and did fine. The newer 3.0lt likes to rev its kind of how it is.

  • I totally agree on the Diesel thing. I own a 2011 Berlina International, it's a good car except for the engine! The engine would be more suited to a medium sized car, not the Commodore, it has to work way too hard to haul around the Commodore. A 2.5L to 3.0L Diesel with about 200Nm more torque than the 3.0L SIDI V6 would transform the car. GM have plenty of Diesels in their company that could be used.

  • Why hasn't Holden (and Ford for that matter) fitted diesel engines to their cars? Surely a frugal diesel Commodore/Falcon would sell well?

  • Totally agree with Chistopher of Croydon. Commodores are fantastic cars. Gordon seems to have posted a few anti-Aussie large car comments in recent times- interesting.

  • That is quite funny "dario of adelaide" considering that the Commodore takes up MORE physical space on the road/car parks etc than an SUV like the Mazda CX7. Here are some figures from a cross section of popular SUVs and the Commodore (Commodore/Sportwagon/Territory/Kluger/CX7/Santa Fe/Forester); Length: 4894/4896/4856/4785/4693/4660/4560 Width: 1899/1899/1898/1910/1872/1890/1795 As you can see, whilst with some there is only a few mm in it (mostly width), the Commodore has a LARGER footprint (especially length) on the road/car parks than all of the SUVs above except for 11mm less width than the Kluger. However we can't let the facts get in the way of a good story can't we??!!! wink

  • Christopher James - Bit too much logic in your post there mate. A lot of people who dismiss the Commodore as 'too big' conveniently overlook the masses of Toyota Klugers and Mazda Cx7s etc filling up supermarket car parks.

your too funny Posted on 14 October 2011 10:15am
  • @Gordon, why don't you drive what you want and not bother us with trivial stuff by saying "get rid of it"

  • @Gordon - Fantastic and very relevant comment. Some people are too blinded to see the facts!

  • I have to wonder which world you think its out of step with Gordon. Its consistently been this countries best selling car for a decade. The VE is a quantum leap over previous models, has a brilliant chassis, the looks, equipment and quality to compete internationally. The HSV R8 and GTS models are regularly quoted in other publications as a cut price M series BMW. It's their highest compliment given they rate the BMW M1 and M3 as 2 of their all time best cars. The Grange, Senator and Caprice are also highly rated, along with the Sportswagon and SS iterations. A great deal more good would accrue if people stopped echoing politically correct diatribe that serves only vast and well funded marketing machines. Australia is not Europe. One cant drive through several countries in one day. Outside the CBD, where small cars make their case and are becoming increasingly unwelcomed by councils, larger vehicles make far more sense. Only a fool would fail to see the massive increase in both SUVs, Crossover vehicles, 4X4s, people movers and the ever burgeoning dimensions of small and medium vehicles. Indifference to locally made product will result in its demise. How will that help anyone? Its world class and rare.

  • Gordon? That's a great comment! You must have thought deeply to come up with it!

  • Holden have more special editions than regular models, must do wonders for what little resale they have left...

Holden Bogan Posted on 13 October 2011 12:35pm
  • Don't be such a fool, these cars have a niche market because they sell, regardless the size or design. You get rid of yourself!

Alex of Bentley Park Posted on 13 October 2011 12:21pm
  • Release as many special 'pack' runs as you like, it is still too big, too boofy and out of step with the world. Get rid of it!
