The new Ford Focus wagon makes its debut at the Geneva Motor Show.

Ford has unveiled a new small load lugger.

The Focus wagon made its debut at the Geneva Motor Show, along with the revelation that a hot performance Focus will also hit the roads some time this year.

“There will be an increasingly global approach to our performance Fords in the future,” the company's group vice president of product development , Derrick Kuzak revealed after the wraps came off the Focus wagon. Kuzak said the performance Focus would be a global car, which means it could be heading to Australia. “It will have both left and right hand drive,” he says.

However, Kuzak would not be drawn on whether the hot Focus would be sold under the Ford Performance Vehicles banner. “Obviously, it’s a very strong brand,” he says.

  • I bought a new 6.2 L GTS Commodore. My brothers XR6 turbo BA feels faster and a much better car to drive. More torque across the rev range. The Holden is a Slug and $$$$ in fuel. FG XR6 Turbo here we come!!!! I'm selling the crapydore Holden.

  • You can?t compare the Commodore wagon with the Focus as the Commodore is a much bigger vehicle on the outside anyway. We have an Hyundai i35cw and it is roomy enough for our family of 5. The Focus with a diesel should be as good as the Golf wagon. I have had LPG vehicles in the past but I am now a diesel fanatic.

  • The amount of taxpayers money that goes into Holden's, the car price is a rip off.. The VE Crummydore is surveyed as the most unreliable make in Australia so how good can they be? It may cost more to fix imported but you don't have to fix them.. When they build what people want and stop their lying maybe they will be worth a look. Bogan cars built by bogans for bogans.

  • These recalladore freaks make me laugh. Every time Ford release a new model car they crawl out from under their rocks just to slag it... if you're talking ugly, the SPORTSWAGON is uglier than SIN. The new Focus looks good.

  • The new VE Commodore wagon on factory fitted LPG is the best value of all. Purchase price is excellent for a vehicle with such great engineering specs and running cost of the LPG model is less than a Corolla. Reliability is great as well. Why buy an import, when they cost so much to fix?

  • Typical responses from recalladore duds

  • 1. It's far too small for a family. 2. The Holden Sportswagon (same wheelbase as a sedan has been built down to a price and is also too small for a family. Keep your VZ wagons people. The VE is a DUD! 3. When is the Falcon Wagon coming?

CQ of Queensland Posted on 10 March 2010 9:12am
  • It's ugly as sin. but what do you expect from ford.. their whole range of cars are damn ugly.

  • lee of bendigo - if it comes in diesel, the engine is from Peugeot!

Alan of Logan Posted on 09 March 2010 10:23pm
  • No comparison to the Holden Sportswagon!!! Too little too late... if you want that sized wagon, the i30 CW is already here - and is an excellent unit, especially with the turbo diesel.

  • Looks good. Sedans are a complete nonsense with their inefficient use of space. (Just gone from a Falcon sedan to a Skoda Roomster). Small wagons with the whole rear end opening instead of a bootlid can swallow a lot of space. Makes me wonder why there aren't more available. With a diesel it would be great as a small efficient wagon. Lets bring back the large wagon (Falcon). With the Commodore providing about 2000L, and my Roomster providing 1800L, and Roomster drinking half the fuel, the Commodore seems like a lot more fuel for marginal benefit. A Falcon with 2700L would be great to see again.

  • There has been Ford Focus wagons on the european market for many years but Ford has never imported them to Australia. So there is probably little hope for the latest model to make it over here. I think that is a pity.

Peter in Sydney Posted on 09 March 2010 9:22pm
  • Please Ford bring back the FALCON wagon as a parent with a child with a disability (wheelchair) and don't like vans sorry people carriers my AU S/Wagon is great. So how about a nice FG wagon or G6E or turbo Deisel wagon or even a XR6 or 8 turbo for us that have loved the falcon wagon all these years. Please don't abandon us.

Terry Corby of Wodonga Posted on 09 March 2010 9:06pm
  • What ugly car? It's a Ford NOT a Holden!

FoMoCo of Broadmeadows Posted on 09 March 2010 8:30pm
  • The Falcon Wagon has been a big car for many a year, but rear styling needs a lift/change to match frontal styling!!! As for the Focus, "to be is to be" another European copycat. It could be worse, "it could be a Yankee design/fallout"!

Jeff Swan of Canberra ACT Posted on 09 March 2010 8:20pm
  • As a focus xr5 owner and coming from a commodore wagon I'm the past I hope that ford do bring this one out to aus. What's needed in aus is a decent sportswagon for the smaller younger family in mind. I'd buy one if it cake in the xr5. It would be a practical weapon of a car!

Andy of Sydney Posted on 09 March 2010 7:21pm
  • AA, how do you figure its going to be competition against the Sportwagon? Completely different segment and much smaller car. Will not be cross-shopped.

James of NSW Posted on 09 March 2010 5:41pm
  • Once again Ford is trying to push these European cars on us. We don't like these ugly ugly cars! And they are way over priced. Try getting parts at a reasonable price? What an ugly car!!!!!! They must have got the design from a Peugeot.

lee of bendigo Posted on 09 March 2010 4:57pm
  • U G L Y - it aint got no alibi - it's ugly!! Trying to get in on the successful holden sportswagon area I suppose. Too bad it looks bloody ugly!

AA of SA Posted on 09 March 2010 2:48pm
  • Do not let the the best big load- lugger wagon at an affordable price go under.I refer to the great Falcon Wagon, made for Australian conditions.

Barry Ferguson of Baw Baw,NSW Posted on 09 March 2010 2:23pm
  • give me the falcon wagon anytime, please bring it back .

brendon glover of tasmania Posted on 09 March 2010 12:37pm
  • It looks like rear vision will be poor with the upswept C pillar. How is mother going to reverse this wagon?

Boxer of Sunnybank Hills Posted on 09 March 2010 12:18pm
  • Looks okay. When are they bringing out a new Falcon Wagon? As a Holden Commodore owner and lover, I won't be rushing out to buy any Ford anytime soon.

William moulds of Gold Coast Posted on 09 March 2010 12:05pm
  • Lift the rear roof line, make sure the rear door is wide for cartons & luggage etc - recent design trends have cut usability in small wagons - we bought a Nissan Navara so as to have carry space etxc at the rear. Others have bought Rangers, Isuzu, etc as the recent "wagons" failed at the rear.

Kevin George of Alice Springs NT Posted on 09 March 2010 11:53am
  • Ford dudded the Nondeo wagon - forgot the Diesel option. And Manual. I'd have bought a 6 spd Turbo Diesel wagon - but settled for a TD Focus instead.

Alan of Logan Posted on 09 March 2010 11:51am
  • Looks pretty sweet. Pity its not scaled up in size a bit though !

Robbo of Sydney Posted on 09 March 2010 11:49am
  • it is a shame they dont make a falcon wagon anymore

Ian Campbell of Newcastle Posted on 09 March 2010 11:44am
  • What's the point in a small wagon! This will not sell.

Capfam of Melbourne Posted on 09 March 2010 11:31am
  • Seems a first attempt at copying the subaru outback... I'd love to see it in person

Ford fan of Syd Posted on 09 March 2010 11:30am
  • UGLY

Hylton Gardiner Posted on 09 March 2010 11:30am
  • Looks good but will it be another Ford lemon? Why doesn't Toyota bring out the fantastic looking Corolla Wagon? it would be a winner given the demise of the large station wagon segment. I have had one for 5 years and it swallows just about everything

Paul of North Sydney Posted on 09 March 2010 11:13am
  • Another Ford dud like the underwhelming Mondeo wagon....

David Burns of Sydney Posted on 08 March 2010 11:08pm
  • And why not make a big Falcon wagon? Seems to be working well for the Commodore.

kayagas of melbourne Posted on 06 March 2010 11:13am
  • It doesn't say will ever be sold in Australia. I hope it will.
