Sometimes news is so good, the hearer just can?t believe it.
Chris Jalilian of Victoria is the grand prize winner in the Carsguide Car of the Show competition, in which car fans around Australia voted to pick the best vehicle at the Australian International Motor Show. And he was so surprised when we rang to tell him, that he rang us back to check that we weren’t just some of his mates playing a joke on him.
Mr Jalilian has won the stunning Lexus CT 200h worth more than $47,000 on the road, while six others have each won $1000 on a pre-loaded Carsguide debit card. The CT 200h is Lexus’s first-ever luxury hybrid hatch, and proves ‘green’ doesn’t mean boring, delivering eco-friendly technology wrapped in a stylish package.

The winner of the Lexus was selected at random from all those who voted, no matter which car they chose in the competition. While Mr Jalilian voted for the Maserati, the Lexus LF-Gh itself was judged Carsguide Car of the Motor Show by the public across most of the country, with 12.6 per cent of the close to 28,000 votes recieved.
The BMW Vision EfficientDynamics concept took second place with 9 per cent and the Lamborghini Aventador came third with 8.8 per cent.
Winners of the $1000 prizes were:
NSW/ACT: John Harmer
VIC: Bronwyn Forrest
SA/NT: Tracy Pratt
QLD: David Symes
TAS: Gary Brown
