The Audi A1 E-tron has been described as an innovative mega city vehicle.

The Audi E-tron family is expanding.

The A1 E-tron, which Audi is showing at the Geneva Motor Show, is described as an innovative mega city vehicle.

Like the R8 and R4 E-tron show cars it uses an electric drive system. In the A1 E-tron it has a range of more than 55km.

There is also a compact internal combustion engine to recharge the battery when its energy is depleted.

The lithium-ion battery pack is mounted in the floor assembly in front of the rear axle. A small, single-rotor Wankel engine is used to increase the car’s range.

This ‘range extender’ powers a generator that produces 15kW of charging power. If the range extender is used to recharge the battery, the A1 E-tron can cover an additional 180km.
