Thanks to Chrysler acquiring 15 per cent of Mitsubishi in 1971, Chrysler Australia began producing the Galant locally, including first- and second-generation models up to 1977.
The Galant became the Chrysler Sigma (later Mitsubishi Sigma and Magna) in Australia after that.
The sixth-gen Galant was imported in sedan and hatch variants including the 2.0-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder AWD VR4 from 1990.
The line-up currently starts at $4,290 for the Galant V6-24 and ranges through to $6,710 for the range-topping Galant V6-24.

Take it to the max
THE editor rates the Mazda3 as the best in its class, but says the VW Golf is a tick behind on value and generally ahead. My experience of the Mazda3 is similar -- a well-built, well-equipped car that performs well. As for your Galant, the trade will value it at about $6000, but you might get $2000 more selling privately.
