It may have a funny name - made up, they say, from tiger and iguana - but there is nothing silly about the Tiguan.
This second cousin to a Golf is a delight to drive, belying the fact that it is a soft-roader.
With few of the vices associated with many SUVs trying to be all things to all people, the Tiguan is a relaxed drive with big reductions in noise, vibration and harshness.
The well-proven 2-litre turbodiesel is suited to the car with ample performance from its 103kW and 320Nm available over a reasonable spread.
Interior space is good with room and comfort guaranteed for four adults and space left over for a child in the rear seat.
Boot space is sufficient for a small family weekend away but capable of being considerably increased by folding part or all of the rear seat.

VW just do things right, plus the styling is gorgeous and fuel efficiency vs performance makes it hard to beat.

A car that looks, feels and drives like a great car at a sensible low price always makes for good comment.
Volkswagen Tiguan fits this category nicely.

Tiguan is my choice. It is small enough for easy parking but with roomy interior for comfort. The engine capacity is big enough for all sort of road surface.

Tiguan named for a blue-robed, sword toting tribe of nomadic North African camel herders - what other reason do you need to buy a car?

The new Audi A4 makes the daily drive enjoyable and sure-footed, without compromising the environment. Its easier to drive than the bigger Tiguan and much less of a wallet-worry than the Jaguar. Resale will reflect its newfound popularity, especially in these challenging financial times.
