Honda Accord Euro 2.4
20 November 2008
Replacing the first Accord Euro was never going to be easy.
Honda's clean-sheet approach created a bigger, brighter and more refined prestige family sedan that is strong on safety, comfort and quality.
Though structurally fresh, Honda made ostensibly small mechanical changes, reviving the previous Euro's smallish 2.4-litre engine and retaining a six-speed manual or auto box.
Within a heavier body the engine is marginally thirstier but the Euro's fuel economy is only a fraction of the story.
This is a premium Japanese car - one of the few Hondas actually made in japan - that rides with European solidity with predictable cornering that acknowledges its taut chassis.
It is an impressive step forward and rides and drives so well it is better than Europeans at almost twice the price.

I test drove the new Mazda6 and the interior was not as classy as Euro. Fit and quality was good in 6 but Euro still better. Euro has better dash layout and info readouts than 6… the temperature gauge on 6 was a little awkward… and with too much red tone, it was getting boring and annoying when i was driving the 6. In Euro the interior was pleasant, although starting to become to overcrowd with buttons… still better than 6 though.
Main differences i feel between 6 and Euro is:
- 6 has full spare tyre and more rear seat and boot room
- Euro has superb fit and finish, lovely drivetrain, standard features
They both look great (but i’m a little dissappoint Euro is a little chubbier and heavier than prev model). Both drive smooth and quiet, but Euro has nicer sounding engine when you want to open the throttle… just wish a little more torque to compensate that weight gain…

I have never owned a Honda, However, being a follower of FI and other motor sports one understands the high esteem that Honda is held in when it comes to superior engeniering. I would deerly love to be the proud owner of the new Honda Accord.

Absolutely love this car. Working in the car industry, have explored various other cars, but this one by far stands out from the rest. Would love to own one of Honda Accord Euro’s. It has an edge over others in all departments right from looks to the fuel economy.

3 years ago we bought a brand new Honda Accord and have found it to be the best car we have ever owned. It has covered over 80 000 km in that time and has never given us any trouble. We have 3 teenage sons and the priority was to provide comfort and space for them as we travel a lot for their sporting pursuits. The Accord has given us all that we ask for, and for me personally it is fantastic for my back and legs as I have had a lot of operations due to sporting injuries, and this is the first car that we have owned that enables me to drive pain free for long distances. As our sons get older and we are looking to update, the Accord Euro has been the only car on the shopping list.
