Holden Sportwagon SS
19 November 2008
This car puts the sex back into station wagons, so to speak.
We certainly could have done with a flash piece of kit like this when we were courting the young ladies at the drive-in. Sadly drive-ins are now pretty much defunct as are station wagons.
However, Holden's brave attempt to keep the wagon dream alive should be applauded.
It is an eminently suitable long-distance tourer and hauler with an enormous flat-floored cargo area, plenty of airy cabin space and comfortable seats. Perfect for the summer driving holidays.
The V8 engine is smooth and powerful and capably interpreted by the smooth six-speed transmission.
However, the 13.9L/100km thirst and aging interior (yes, even after just three years), count against it.

I have driven a Holden before and it was efficient on the fuel with a robust engine that produced good horse power of energy. If i was in the market to purchase a car, at the top of my list would be a Holden.
