Audi A4 1.8T
13 November 2008
The all-new A4 is an obvious contender...
... but we went with the front-drive four-door sedan with the 1.8-litre low-pressure turbocharged engine.
The German sedan is attractive, both inside and out, and surprisingly swift.
The four-cylinder engine delivers decent outputs across a broad rev range, with 118kW between 4500 and 6200 revs and 250Nm from 1500 to 4500 revs.
Driving the front wheels through a continuously-variable transmission helps make any trip a smooth, quiet and swift event that won't break the bank when it comes to filling up.
Importantly, the ride quality of the new A4 is better sorted than its predecessors and the overall package is quality, confidence and competence.

I have had a 1.8T A4 B8 for a few months. Took it for a drive from Canberra to Melb for the first time on the weekend. The engine combined with the CVT is smooth as silk and surprisingly quick - I won’t say exactly how quick
. The 17” 225/50s were quiet on bitumen but a bit noisy on the concrete stretches. I used to own a V6 A4 B5 and this new one is just as powerful and twice as fuel efficient. Very good car, highly recommend it to anyone who wants some true European style and comfort.

Cam - Melbourne:
I test drove the IS250; Mercedes C-Class and A4 petrol and diesel versions. I ended up getting the A4 because of its very spacious boot, style, fuel consumption and interior. Plus I got mine just below the LCT with a few options. Didnt get the sat nav because you can fork out less and get one of the readily available ones in the market.
Should get commission from Audi!

Well Audi must be doing something right. While other car makers
are closing or cutting production, Audi keeps going strong, good
enough reason to believe in the product, Audi get my wote.
