Volkswagen Polo Beats 2016 | new car sales price

VW Polo scores premium Beats Audio, unique trim and drive away pricing for Beats special edition.

Rap legend Doctor Dre and the excellent-but-clinical Volkswagen Polo may seem like worlds apart, but they're about to be united for a special edition of the smallest hatchback in VW's Australian line-up.

Wearing the Polo Beats label, the new limited release represents a tie-up with the Dre-founded Beats Audio brand, and is also likely a commercial dividend of the Volkswagen range's early adoption of Apple CarPlay. Apple has of course owned the Beats Audio brand since 2014.

The Polo Beats made its global debut alongside the Beats version of the (discontinued in Australia) Up! hatch at the Geneva motor show in March. It's not VW's first musical collaboration either, with the second-generation new Beetle produced in a limited Fender Edition in 2013.

Based on the existing mid-spec 81TSI Comfortline, the Polo Beats will be available in white, red or black body colours, with contrasting red or black mirror caps depending on base hue. Other identifying features include bespoke side decals, Beats badging and unique two-tone 16 inch alloys.

The Polo Beats' interior is where the real fidelity lies, with a bespoke Beats Audio eight-channel 300Watt premium sound system with subwoofer that has been specifically tuned by Beats engineers. It also scores two tone trim with unique textured cloth and Alcantara seat fabric and red stitching.

The Polo Beats will arrive in Australian showrooms in September, with drive-away pricing of $21,990 for the six-speed manual version, and $24,490 for the seven-speed DSG auto. This is just $3,300 more than the regular MY17 81TSI Comfortline's list pricing, and comes with all the Beats details and includes on-road costs.
