2015 Ford Falcon XR8 teased | video

New video shows fresh details of the upcoming V8 XR8, and gives a look inside the mysterious world of vehicle development.

Ford’s drip-feed of details in the leadup to the October arrival of the final Falcon has so far included close-up still images of the new model’s head and taillights, and a redesigned version of the classic XR8 logo to accompany the moniker’s return as the final Falcon V8 variant.

Now the Blue Oval’s local arm has released a new video, where Ford Prototype Build Co-ordinator Neil Tricky explains the tantalising disguises fitted to development mules ahead of a new model’s unveiling.

However, the video also confirms that the new XR8 will retain the model’s now-characteristic V8 bonnet bulge, XR-specific grille mesh, and gives us a closer look at the lights at both ends, including our first look at a specific XR-embossed headlight detail.

The prototype also wears the same 19-inch wheels as the current GT-F and all GTs since the arrival of the supercharged 5.0-litre V8 in 2010, but Ford could be keeping a new design of the same size under wraps for the full unveiling.

Together with the exclusive spy shots of the Falcon and Territory we bought you in March, we’re starting to get a pretty clear picture of the classic nameplate’s swansong ahead of its demise in October 2016
