Toyota adds new automatic version of the diesel SR 4WD dual-cab chassis to suit mining and trade buyers.
The top-selling Toyota HiLux has added a 23rd variant to its Australian lineup with the inclusion of a new automatic version of the diesel-only SR 4WD dual-cab chassis.
The four-wheel drive HiLux SR dual-cab was previously only available with the five-speed manual transmission, but Toyota has responded to demand from the lucrative mining sector and trade buyers for an automatic variant.
Such demands have already brought us a dual-cab version of the classic (in-text) 70 Series LandCruiser ute, along with the (in-text) specifically tailored Ranger XL Plus from Ford.
Cab-chassis flexibility allows for custom fit-outs for the rear of the vehicle for tradespeople who find the tub-style tray restrictive.
Coupled with the auto, the SR’s 3.0-litre turbodiesel engine develops the same 126kW and 360Nm as other HiLux diesels, and returns a 8.7L/100km combined fuel figure – 0.4L/100km more than the manual.
A $43,740 list price sits $2750 higher than the manual, and the five-seat SR Double Cab comes equipped with a 6.1-inch multimedia screen with Bluetooth connectivity and multifunction steering wheel.
