I want Toyota Australia to hear my view on the Tundra pick-up. In the US, it has strong competition from the Ford F150, Dodge Ram and GM trucks, all US icons. My company owns several utes: Ford Rangers, a Mazda BT-50, three Nissan Navaras, two Falcons and a V8 Toyota LandCruiser tray. The construction industry is a huge consumer of these types of vehicles so I can't understand why Toyota doesn't give the Tundra a go here. You say our market is too small but Jeep is a strong seller here and the Tundra would be in a class of its own. There'd be a rush of well-heeled tradies lining up to buy one. I'd buy 10 as I'm sure I could easily sell the rest.
There's no right-hand drive Tundra and no plan for it. You'd have to order 30,000 to get Toyota to change its mind.
